Just a quick little blip of an update:
We had our monthly appointment today. I've gained around 13 lbs thus far, the baby belly is measuring perfectly, and baby's heart sounds great! She had to chase him with the doppler because he was squirming around and trying to escape! :)

Ultrasound results!

As many of you know, we had our ultrasound yesterday! Very early on in the appointment it became clear that Baby Maloney #2 is another little boy! He was very active, and was not shy about sharing his gender with us. He was very cooperative and gave the tech all the views and measurements she needed, despite his constant wiggling.

We got to see him open and close his mouth, move his arms, hands, and feet, as well as bring his hand to his mouth and start sucking on his fingers! So precious.

He is measuring within two days of due date, which is completely normal. She said he weighs around 9oz, and has a small head (within normal range, of course). I hope it stays that way! Haha. His heartbeat was nice and steady around 130.

The placenta is anterior (on the front) as we suspected, but I have started feeling much more movement within the last week! It is almost strong enough to feel from the outside in the right circumstances, so I am hoping that Daddy gets to feel him soon!

What I find most interesting is that this little guy looks a great deal like Levi did at his 18 week ultrasound! They have the same overall head and face shape, as well as that cute little button nose! I am curious what this Little One's hair and eye color will be after Levi surprised us with blond hair and blue eyes!

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh

Well, we heard Little One's heartbeat today - sort of. The CNM, Lisa (who is fabulous), was using the doppler to try and find baby's heartbeat. After a few minutes of searching, you could hear it faintly... behind the deafening WHOOSH, WHOOSH of the placenta pumping blood! It seems that the placenta is anterior, aka - attached at the front of the uterus! This makes it difficult to hear baby, and often makes it more difficult to feel those earlier kicks and wiggles. Well, that explains a lot! I've been saying that I feel this baby much less than I felt Levi at the same stage. I thought perhaps this one is just a bit less active, but did wonder if it was to do with positioning. We will find out for sure at our ultrasound on May 3rd. Have I mentioned that I am actively counting down to that day??? Only 12 days to go! I can't wait to find out if we are having another little guy or a little girl! That's right, we've done it again. You probably already knew by now that Baby Maloney II was on it's way.

First some things to get out of the way! There's a password on the site now, oh yeah, if you're seeing this you knew that already. If it needs to change for any reason, we'll let you know. The look and feel of the site is still under construction but we decided it was ok for everyone to see it now.

There will be some new features added to the page as time goes on. The first one is a poll. Do you think it's a boy or a girl? You'll find the poll on the right hand side of the page. Voting closes May 3 at 7:00 AM. So vote now! That day is our gender scan and if the little one cooperates we'll be able to tell everyone that day.

We'll be keeping you posted on Mommy's progress, Levi's guesses (Brother, Sister, or most commonly, "No!"), and when the Braxton Hicks kick in.
